Members May Exhibition 2024 - Black and White with a Touch of colour

Th exhibition opened on the 4 May and ran to the 19 May

Judges are all members of the Burnie Arts Council;Tara Palmer ,Viktor Zappner & Pam Thorne

Number one choice was No. 41 by Jo Lawrence This piece demonstrated a purposeful use of colour and line, and conveys confidence and strength within the artists practice. The use and depth of colour confirms the emotion clearly visible in the work.

Number two choice was No. 17 by Catherine Shield. Nature set against the domestic provides an appealing contrast. The monochrome background allows the colour of the flora to highlight the foreground. It sits perfectly within the theme of this exhibition.

Number three choice was No.38 by Charlene Satet. This work displays an obvious sense of freedom along with controlled risk. (In Viktor’s words) – “There is a spontaneous use of line that conveys a feeling not unlike improvised jazz, swinging between the lines with a perfect balance of rhythm, melody and harmony forming a competent piece overall”.
